چکیده

One new species and two new subspecies of Altopedaliodes Forster are described from southern Ecuador: A. halli n. sp., A. perita sorda n. ssp. and A. zsolti citra n. ssp. The species Altopedaliodes kruegeri Pyrcz is transferred to Pedaliodes and a new subspecies P. k. belmira n. ssp. is described from northern Colombian Central Cordillera. The, hitherto, unknown female of A. kurti Pyrcz & Viloria is described. The generic diagnosis of Altopedaliodes is discussed pointing out the insufficiency of solid proof for the monophyly of this taxon. Oreal Pronophilini of the northern Andes are briefly reviewed.

Description of a new species of Forsterinaria Gray from the Pantepuy (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae: Satyrinae)

A new species of montane butterfly, Forsterinaria hannieri n. sp. (Nymphalidae, Satyrinae) is described from the Guyana Shield in Venezuela. It is most similar to F. inornata (c. Felder & r. Felder, 1867) known from western slopes of the Andes in Colombia and Ecuador, but it shows unequivocal differences, especially in the male genital morphology.

Description of a new remarkable species of Lymanopoda WESTWOOD and identification of a centre of endemism of cloud forest butterflies in Belmira, northern Central Cordillera, Antioquia, Colombia (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae: Satyrinae)

A new species, Lymanopoda paisa n. sp., is described from the northern extremity of the Colombian Central Cordillera in Antioquia. It is closely related to L. ionius, as indicated by the male genitalia and underside colour pattern. However, L. paisa has an unusual upperside colour pattern with a large, light blue patch covering basal two-thirds of the wings. It is apparently endemic to the nort...

Systematics, zoogeography and bionomics of high Andean pedaliodines, Part. 2: Pedaliodes praxia (HEWITSON) and related species (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae: Satyrinae)

A systematic revision of the Pedaliodes praxia group is presented. It consists of three closely related species occurring in the uppermost cloud forests of the northern Andes in Colombia and Ecuador. Two new taxa, Pedaliodes puciula n. sp. and P. praxia buckleyi n. ssp., are described. Geographic distribution patterns are overviewed. Main ecological traits are discussed.

From the phylogeny of the Satyrinae butterflies to the systematics of Euptychiina (lepidoptera: nymphalidae): history, progress and prospects.

We review the various proposals of evolutionary and classification schemes for Satyrinae and particularly Euptychiina butterflies, assessing progress and prospects of research for the group. Among the highlights is the proposal to include Morphini, Brassolini and Amathusiini as part of Satyrinae. Although it is clear that this hypothesis requires further investigation, phylogenetic studies rece...

Revised species definitions and nomenclature of the rose colored Cithaerias butterflies (Lepidoptera, Nymphalidae, Satyrinae).

This study provides updated species definitions for five rose-colored Cithaerias butterflies, starting with a historical overview of their taxonomy. Given their mostly transparent wings, genitalia morphology yielded the most reliable characters for species definition and identification. Genitalic divergence is more pronounced when multiple species occur in sympatry than between parapatric taxa....
